Ferlib 20 Ga – O/U, CREATIVE ART ENGRAVED, GOLD INLAYS, vintage firearms
Description: General Specs: Ferlib, 1992, 20 Gauge, 5lbs. 15oz., Chokes IC/M, LOP 14 5/8", DAH 2 3/4", DAC 1 7/16" Serial Number: 33848 Ferlib built high-end rifles and shotguns in the gunmaking center of Gardone, Val Trompia, Italy from the late 1940’s through 2005. Libro Ferraglio was the maker’s name, and the label on the gun is comprised of the first 3 letters of his last and first name…hence Ferlib. These were hand-crafted guns, including hand cut engraving and checkering, skillfully fit and finished to old-school standards. They were all built on scaled-to-gauge frames with close attention to weight and balance. This gun, sn33848 built in 1986, remains in 99% overall condition, with well figured Turkish walnut, 99% barrel blue, 99% coin finish on the action and trigger guard, and excellent mechanics. The 28” barrels have perfect bores choked IC/M with 2 ¾” chambers, tight low profile vent rib, fit tight as new on the hinge and breech face. The sculpted round action frame is low profile with gracefully filed breech ball area, artfully hand-engraved by Armondo Piardi of Italy’s famed Creative Art engraver’s den. The floral and scroll work is well cut with a shaded background and nearly full coverage except where the game scenes are. The three game scenes are almost photographic, and the gold inlaid birds are simply stunning with amazing detail. The mechanics are excellent with strong well-timed ejectors, perfect screws, crisp single trigger, positive non-auto safety, and a top lever that is still well right of center. The long tang trigger guard is embellished with fine floral and scroll engraving, and both action and trigger guard are a bright coin finish with no signs of use. The English style straight-hand stock has wonderfully figured Turkish walnut with perfect layout through the diamond shaped wrist, 99% oil finish, 28 line per inch hand-cut checkering, blank gold shield in the belly, and terminating in a checkered butt. At 5 pounds 15 ounces and balanced just in front of the hinge pin, this gun has handling dynamics that will put a smile on your face. With the English stock, Schnabel forend, tiny action, and slender barrels the gun has a racy, sexy look to it. These guns are made to high quality with all hand fitting and are far nicer than the CNC machined guns coming out of Italy today in this moderate price range. See specifications below. What a great gun for your upcoming upland bird season, and just in time for a few trips to the clays course to get used to this little wand. This is an exceptional value and shouldn’t last long. You won’t find this level of hand engraving and wood figure at anywhere near the price we have set for this fine Italian over/under. Please call right away to make this one yours. Thanks for looking!
