A.H. Fox Sterlingworth 12-gauge SxS 30-inches Full/Mod circa 1929
Description: The Sterlingworth side-by-side shotgun was produced between 1910 and 1942. It features a case-hardened receiver, blued barrels, and a checkered wood buttstock and forearm. According to doublegunshop, this one was made in 1929. It is in fair condition given its age of 89 years. At one point it became rusted and was cleaned but some minor pitting remains. Upon close examination, the pitting is surface-only, i.e. no deep pitting is present. Some of the case-color has been reduced because of the pitting but it is roughly 85-90 percent condition. The barrels have some bluing loss, most of it on the left barrel. The stock has most of the finish dried and flaking away. Personally, a stock needing refinishing due to a flaky finish is better than one needing replacement due to drying out and cracking as is the case with some older firearms. On the positive side, the lockup is still very tight, and the bores are very clean. Please see the pictures. The left bore has a full choke and the right a modified choke. These two make the Sterlingworth suitable for a variety of uses. SOLD Manufacturer: A.H.
