AH Fox Sterlingworth SxS 16 gauge Very Nice!
Description:
16 gauge with 26" barrels. Very light weight at exactly 6lbs 3.4 oz per my postal scale. I've been told that the AH Fox 16s of this era were built on 20 ga frames and it feels like a twenty in hand. I don't shoot it well, I can't get enough length for my ape-like arms and it's a bit low in the comb. This gun will however make an outstanding upland gun for the right shooter. Refinished at some point and looks near new. Length of pull is just shy of 15". The stock was never shortened or cut but a Pachmayr Decellerater was added to get the near 15" length and I still have the original butt plate that can be installed to reduce the length by 1".
I cannot find choke markings but my best guess is IC on the right and light full on the left. I have had the chamber checked and at some point it was lengthened to accommodate 2 3/4" shells which I have shot several boxes through it with no issues. Mirror bores.
Tight lock up and the lever is still slightly right of center for another lifetime of shooting.
