A.H. Fox Sterlingworth (Wayne Junction) SXS 12 GA 28” Serial Number 23

Description:
This is a 1909 Fox Sterlingworth Gun Company 12-gauge shotgun, serial number 0023. As A.H. Fox collectors know, Ansley Fox purchased the Sterlingworth Gun Company and the first 200 or so Fox Sterlingworth’s were Wayne Junction “pin” guns. This is a rare and unusual Sterlingworth marked “Sterlingworth Gun Company” – Wayne Junction. It is believed to be the oldest known, existing Sterlingworth, I.e. the 24th gun produced. Discovered in an Eden, NC music shop, it bears 28-inch Sterlingworth Fluid Steel barrels, choked modified and modified. Unusual is the fact that, atypical of Sterlingworth shotguns, this gun bears substantial, factory-style, hand engraving. Some Fox experts believe it to be a “lunch box” gun. More likely, it was re-barreled and engraved at the factory. In any case, this historic shotgun has been expertly- restored and restocked, like the early Sterlingworths, in figured American black walnut. The restoration was performed by Dan Rossiter, Master Gunsmith at Custom Stocks & Steel, ACGG member and now Shop Foreman at Griffin & Howe. Its bores are excellent and its LOP is 14 ½ inches, with a slight cast favoring a right-handed shooter. Since its 2017 restoration, the shotgun is unfired and has been stored in a climate-controlled safe. I am selling this one on consignment and as such lay-a-way can’t be used. Payment: Payment is by Money Order, Cashier’s Check or Personal Check. I can now also accept Credit Cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discover & American Express) with a 3% convenience fee.

Shipping: The shipping charge will be listed in each description. It is $49 for most firearms. Some heavy guns or those insured for over $2000 will be higher. Shipments to Alaska and Hawaii are higher because air shipment is required. Most firearms are shipped on Tuesday and Thursday and usually in 5 days of receipt of payment.

We package all shipments carefully and insure them. Optics are shipped Priority Mail and most other non-firearm shipments are shipped First Class.

Returns: Our return policy is simple. If for any reason you are not pleased with your purchase, you may return your item for a full refund of purchase price. Ammunition cannot be returned. It is important to us that you are happy. Guns cannot be fired or dissembled before returning them and they must be returned in the same condition as received. Notification of a return must occur within 3 days of receipt at your dealer. Shipping, convenience and dealer fees are not refundable and are the responsibility of the buyer.

Lay-a-way: If needed, we offer a 60 day lay-a-way option on most firearms. It is 1/3 now, 1/3 in 30 days and 1/3 in 60 days. Lay-a-way firearm sales are final and cannot be returned. If a lay-a-way is not completed the first payment cannot be refunded.
