A H Fox AE grade 12 gauge SxS shotgun. Circa 1928 this AE has 28” #4 weight barrels. The barrels are choked Modified and Extra Full, have 2 ½” chambers and the following dimensions:
Right tube: .725” bore; .017” choke with minimal wall thickness of .033”
Left tube: .733” bore; .048” choke with minimal wall thickness of .026”
Both the right and left have bright bores, are well in proof and each has some light pitting from the muzzle back about 6”. Very shootable and very safe. Weighs 7 lbs. 1 oz.
Double triggers, automatic ejectors, automatic safety. The “Prince-of-Wales” style pistol grip stock has a 14 ¼” LOP over the factory butt plate; 1 5/8” DAC and 2 ½” DAH with neutral cast.
The frame has strong, nicely cut “A” grade engraving with traces of original colors. The barrels have original rust bluing which is slightly thinning in places. The stock finish is excellent. The forearm has an old/professional crack repair on the bottom from the fe iron for about an inch and subsequent refinish. Mechanically excellent in all aspects from trigger pull, to lockup to ejector timing.
All-in-all this 93 year old Fox is in great shape and ready for your next upland bird shoot.
