Here we have a very hard to find combination of features: English style stock with well figured English walnut, modern stock dimensions, ejectors, Fox/Kautzky single selective trigger, 28” number 3 weight Krupp Steel barrels (most desirable), a 12-gauge gun weighing just 6 ¾ pounds and balanced perfectly 1/8” forward of the hinge pin.  This gun, sn21651 built in 1914, is the ultimate upland gun with its 28” barrels choked light modified and improved modified chokes.  The bores are mirror shiny, no dents or dings, with sharp lettering and crisp rib matting.  Most of the early American 12ga. guns were short chambered for 2 5/8” shells.  PRESENTLY IT IS DIFFICULT, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE, TO FIND 2 ½” 12GA. SHELLS TO PURCHASE.  BECAUSE OF THIS, VFI GUNSMITHS HAVE CAREFULLY MEASURED THE BARREL WALL THICKNESS AHEAD OF THE CHAMBER AND HAVE LENGTHENED THE CHAMBERS TO 2 ¾” AND EXTENDED THE FORCING CONES TO 1 ½” TAPERS SO THAT YOU CAN SHOOT MODERN 2 ¾” FIELD LOADS THROUGH THIS GUNS.  This is a $400 service in our shop.  Modern chambers and long forcing cones makes for safe shooting with softer recoil and better patterns, which benefit the shooter and preserve the integrity of these fine old double guns.  THIS IS A VFI CERTIFIED GUN, HAVING THE ACTION AND FOREND IRON STRIPPED TO THE SMALLEST PART, ULTRASONIC CLEANED, ALL PARTS INSPECTED FOR INTEGRITY AND FUNCTION, LUBRICATED AND REASSEMBLED.  THIS IS A $425 SERVICE IN OUR SHIP.  VFI CERTIFIED GUNS HAVE A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  See the specifications below, and note that the stock dimensions are very modern and shootable, another hard to find feature for a gun from the turn of the 20th century!  Don't miss the opportunity to own a nice Fox from the best era of production.
