Fox AE 20 Gauge -LONG LOP, 5LBS. 15OZ., 2 3/4” CHAMBERS, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: A.H. Fox, 1924, 20 Gauge, 5lbs. 15oz., Chokes IC/M, LOP 14 7/8″, DAH 2 5/16″, DAC 1 3/8″ Serial Number: 202215 Many reading this ad regularly scour the internet for Fox shotguns. One thing is certain; the availability of graded 20ga. Fox shotguns has dwindled to nearly zero. Shooter/collectors have recognized the Fox 20ga. guns are the most well balanced, lightest weight, best handling guns of all the vintage American doubles. They have the simplest, most reliable actions as well. They made 2400 A Grade 20ga. Fox guns, less than 1200 with ejectors. This Philly Fox, sn202215 produced in 1924, is a unique find. The gun has been meticulously restocked to historical perfection and checkering pattern with well figured English walnut with a 14 7/8” length of pull to a butt plate. Anyone much over 6 foot tall recognizes that most of these vintage American shotguns have short stocks. If you want to enjoy a Fox AE 20 gauge, you either you have a gun with a fat pad on it or you must restock the gun at a cost of $3000 or more and a 1.5 year wait to get it done. This is a clean Fox with perfect mechanics, factory 26” #3 weight barrels choked IC/M, great bores, and tight as new on breech face and hinge pin. We have brought this gun up to date and ready for many seasons to come. We stripped the action and forend iron to the smallest parts, Ultrasonic cleaned and scrubbed all parts to shiny metal, inspected all parts for integrity and function, lubricated and reassembled, providing you a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, a $450 service in our shop. VFI CERTIFIED GUNS have a 90-day mechanical warranty providing confidence you are buying a fine shotgun that will provide years of service in the field. PRESENTLY IT IS DIFFICULT, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE, TO FIND 2 ½” 20GA. SHELLS TO PURCHASE. BECAUSE OF THIS, VFI GUNSMITHS HAVE CAREFULLY MEASURED THE BARREL WALL THICKNESS AHEAD OF THE CHAMBER, AND FINDING IT SAFE, HAVE LENGTHENED THE CHAMBERS TO 2 ¾” AND EXTENDED THE FORCING CONES TO 1 ½” TAPERS SO THAT YOU CAN SHOOT MODERN 2 ¾” FIELD LOADS THROUGH OUR GUNS. This is a $440 service in our shop. We provide the most comprehensive photography and specifications in the marketplace (SEE TABLES BELOW), information that allows you to make a good choice. The barrels and trigger guard have 100% blue, the wood has Truoil finish that is 99%, the checkering is superb, and the gun has great stock dimensions. NOTHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BUT TAKE HER AFIELD. With only a handful Fox AE 20ga. guns available for sale, this is your new Fox, just in time for the upland season. Don’t let this one escape you. It will continue to gain value as you enjoy its use.
