Fox BE 12 Gauge – LATE STYLE, FACTORY ORIGINAL 30” NO. 1 WEIGHT
Description: Fox BE 12 Gauge Shotgun LATE STYLE, FACTORY ORIGINAL, 30" NO. 1 WEIGHT General Specs: Fox, Year 1914, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 10oz, SxS Serial Number: 22128 The B Grade Fox was relatively short lived as a model, being discontinued from their catalog offerings in 1918. There are a fair number of the B Grades seen with the early style engraving, but on 606 were ever produced with the late style B engraving. That puts this Fox in the RARE GUN category with only a few made with #1 weight barrels. Engraved with a full coverage foliate and game scene style, it is a very handsome Fox gun that is not often seen. Pleasing to the eye (often mistaken for an X Grade from a distance), with nice wood, factory checkered side-panels, engraved barrel wedge, and a great quail scene, this is an affordable, full coverage engraved Fox with ejectors. I love the late style B Grade Fox, and you almost never see them for sale. I just checked the entire internet offerings and there is only one offered, and it has been restocked and wears a huge pad. This fine Fox BE, sn22128 built in 1914, is an exceptional example, with FACTORY ORIGINAL METAL FINISHES. Even the wood has not been restored, though finish has been added some time ago. This gun is made for heavy loads with its 30” Krupp Steel #1 weight barrels, (the heaviest offered on the regular frame), 3” chambers, very substantial barrel wall thicknesses, weighing 7lbs. 10oz., and stocked with strong, straight grained English walnut with good shooting dimensions. Look closely at the photos…this gun is in SUPER CONDITION, with perfect untouched screws, perfect wood to metal fit, perfect factory original checkering, excellent bores, barrels tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun, top lever far to the right, strong well-timed ejectors, crisp triggers, nicely figured wood, 40% factory case color; JUST A GORGEOUS FOX. Choked IC/F from the factory, it is the perfect gun for tough flushing game, and the best choke for decoying ducks and geese (for decoying waterfowl, pick the farthest bird in the flock to shoot first with the full choke. If you miss the birds will be closer for the second shot; if you connect your second shot will be in close for the IC choke and you “SHOOT YOUR DOUBLE”, old-timer’s method). If you are a sporting clays buff, this gun weighs enough to tame recoil and keep your swing going. Carry a pocketful of RST Spreader loads for the stations requiring more open patterns…a very versatile Fox indeed. This is a great Fox BE, don’t miss out! Thanks for looking.
