Fox CE 20 Gauge - 1919, RARE ENGLISH GRIP, 6LBS.,vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Fox, Year 1919, 20 Gauge, 6lb, Chokes M/F, LOP 14", DAH 2 1/2", DAC 1 7/16" Serial Number: 201368 Has anybody noticed? Where have all the Fox 20ga. Graded guns gone? The shooting public caught on to the delightful handling characteristics of the A.H. Fox 20, bought them all up, and they aren't selling them. This fine Fox, sn201368 made in 1919, is 1 of 366 Philly CE 20ga. guns ever made WITH ONLY ABOUT 40 MADE WITH ENGLISH GRIP A VERY RARE FOX! JUST AS RARE AS THE NUMBER MADE, THIS GUN IS COMPLETELY FACTORY ORIGINAL, INCLUDING THE WOOD AND METAL FINISHES. Most others that remain have had their stocks cut, barrels cut, parts replaced, have been restored etc., leaving even fewer Fox CE 20ga. guns that remain factory original and intact. Examine the factory order card we have included with the photos, and you will see the details of this gun. The wood was ordered “select dark handsome stock”, and they did! Still terminating in the Fox factory butt plate and a 14” LOP and nice modern dimensions, this Fox has it all. The stock is without cracks or repairs and the wood-to-metal fit is superb. Weighing just 6lbs. and balanced dead on the hinge pin, she shoulders effortlessly for your fast upland birds. What a great gun for your upland pursuits on the open prairies with modern loads. PRESENTLY IT IS DIFFICULT, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE, TO FIND 2 ½” 20GA. SHELLS. BECAUSE OF THIS, VFI GUNSMITHS HAVE CAREFULLY MEASURED THE BARREL WALL THICKNESS AHEAD OF THE CHAMBER AND HAVE LENGTHENED THE CHAMBERS TO 2 ¾” AND EXTENDED THE FORCING CONES TO 1 ½” TAPERS SO THAT YOU CAN SHOOT MODERN 2 ¾” FIELD LOADS THROUGH OUR GUNS. This is a $360 service in our shop. Modern chambers and long forcing cones makes for safe shooting with softer recoil and better patterns. The engraving is clear and sharp. The checkering is clean and factory original, the screws are excellent, and the barrels have tight ribs and great bores...this is an exceptional CE Fox small bore. The barrels are tight on the breech face and hinge pin like a new gun. THIS IS A VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY, the action and forend iron having been stripped to the smallest part, Ultrasonic cleaned, each part inspected for function and integrity, lubricated, and reassembled ready for another 100 years of service (a $375 service in our shop). It is a delightful bird gun waiting for a new home, will do you well on the vintage clays course, and with its strong desirability and rarity, it will only go up in value as you enjoy its use. If you love English stocked guns and have been hoping to own a high-grade Fox CE 20ga. this is the rarest of opportunities, especially if you want all factory original as one of your qualifications to buy. WE LEFT THE FINISHES ORIGINAL FOR THOSE WHO PREFER THEIR GUNS THAT WAY. IF YOU WANT THE BARRELS BLUED OR ANY OTHER RESTORATION WORK DONE, WE WILL DO IT FOR YOU AND GO TO WORK ON THE GUN WITH NO WAITING IN LINE. You should not hesitate, or she will be gone!
