Fox Sterlingworth 20 Gauge – 98% FACTORY FINISH, 28” M/F, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Fox, Year 1934, 20 Gauge, 6lbs, M/F, LOP 14 1/4", DAH 2 3/4", DAC 1 5/8" Serial Number: 264824 Most will agree the Fox Sterlingworth 20ga. is the best value for a small-gauge vintage American double in today's marketplace. Built on a tiny 20ga. frame (therefore lighter than like guns from Parker, L.C. Smith, or Ithaca), dynamically balanced (this one weighing just 6lbs), the Sterlingworth is still an affordable field and clays gun with the handling and shooting characteristics of a much more expensive gun. This Sterlingworth, sn264824 shipped in 1934, is an amazing find in that it has never been restored or refurbished in any way and still retains 99% vibrant factory case colors, 99% factory trigger guard blue, 99% factory wood finish, and 98% factory barrel blue. This gun has the most desirable 28” number 3 weight barrels with factory 2 ¾” chambers and are choked LM/F, perfect for your upland pursuits or that favorite sporting clays course. There are no cracks or repairs to the wood, the checkering is excellent, screws are perfect, bores are bright and shiny, and the mechanics are in perfect order with the barrels tight on breech face and hinge pin with the lever way right of center. The 14 ¼” LOP to the factory buttplate with 2 ¾” drop at heel and 1 5/8” drop at the nose of the comb and neutral cast are dimensions most of us can shoot, unlike most Sterlingworth guns that have 3” drop at heel or more. As most of us know, finding a Sterlingworth 20ga. in this super-high condition is a very rare occurrence and as always, high factory condition paired with desirable features creates the very best investment quality firearms to purchase. Priced according to its condition and desirability, it is a great bird or clays gun and will function flawlessly as you enjoy carrying a piece of American history. The Fox 20ga. Sterlingworth continues to go up in value and this one is ready for another 100 years of service. Thanks for looking! Barrels Barrel Length: 28" #3wt.
