It‚‚s ready to hit the trap field without needing any work. Perfect for a shooter looking for a serious competition gun without breaking the bank. _____________________________________________________________ The Franchi 2005 was developed in the late 1980s and into the 1990s as part of Franchi’s effort to compete in the premium sporting and trap shotgun market, particularly against Italian heavyweights like Perazzi and Beretta. Franchi, long known for their semi-auto shotguns, wanted to show they could also build world-class over/unders and dedicated competition guns. The Franchi 2005 was their flagship trap and sporting combo, designed with serious competitive shooters in mind. It came typically in a combo setup: an unsingle barrel (for singles and handicap) and an over/under barrel (for doubles), sharing the same receiver and stock. The model emphasized: Balance and adjustability: including an adjustable rib and stock options Durability: robust lock-up, heavy duty ejectors, and a strong monoblock barrel design Affordability: offering near-Perazzi quality at a more accessible price The 2005 features a distinctive blued and engraved receiver with fine scrollwork, along with a well-finished walnut stock. Many came with adjustable combs and buttplates right from the factory — a relatively advanced feature for its time. Mechanically, it has similarities to some of the Perazzi actions (specifically early models like the MX3 and MX8), though it’s definitely its own build. It has a strong, mechanical trigger system that can be adjusted slightly to user preference. In competition circles, the Franchi 2005 earned a quiet but loyal following. Although not as famous as Perazzi, Krieghoff, or Beretta DT-series guns, it became a respected \"sleeper\" choice for shooters who wanted serious performance without the $10k+ price tag. Unfortunately, when Beretta Holding purchased Franchi in the mid-1990s, Franchi scaled back their premium competition gun production to focus on mass-market semi-autos and hunting guns. The 2005 series was discontinued and never really replaced. As a result, clean examples today are relatively rare, especially in full combo sets. Summary: Designed late 1980s into 1990s for serious trap and sporting competition Combo set with unsingle and O/U barrels Strong mechanical design, adjustable features, excellent build quality Discontinued after Beretta Group shifted Franchi’s focus Today considered a hidden gem for trap shooters Manufacturer: FRANCHI Model: 2005 Combo trap Condition: Used - Non-Certified Barrels: 32 Action: OVER UNDER Gauge: 12 GA Finish: blued Price: $1,050.99 Contact Seller |
