Francotte 20 Gauge – ABERCROMBIE & FITCH, NICE vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Francotte, Year 1924, 20 Gauge, 5lbs 15oz, Cyl/SK, LOP 14 1/4", DAH 2 5/8", DAC 1 3/8" Serial Number: 1223 The name Auguste Francotte is synonymous with the best of the Belgium gun trade. For over a hundred years Francotte shotguns have been known the world over as “bespoke” guns from Belgium. This Francotte, sn1223, is a deluxe “Knockabout” as it has a factory single non-selective single trigger and very nicely figured French walnut stock. Built in 1924 during the time when quality reigned supreme, this little Francotte retains most of its factory original condition with 65% vivid case color, excellent screws, mirror bores, 98% factory blue, beautifully figured European walnut with excellent checkering...just a beautiful little 20 bore that was imported by the famous outdoor outfitter Abrecombie and Fitch. Weighing just 5lbs. 15oz. and balanced on the hinge pin with 26" barrels choked Cyl/SK, perfect for the tight upland quarters where Mr. Ruffed Grouse and MS. Woodcock live, the gun would make a nice vintage skeet gun as well. The gun is mechanically excellent in all ways, with strong well-timed ejectors, crisp trigger, tight as new on hinge and breech face, this is the way you like to find them. The Francotte guns are one of the best buys in the fine gun world and known for strength and durability while being quite refined. This gun has 5 locking points; Greener cross bolt, double underlug bites, sideclips, and through the frame barrel lug...just as good as you can get and being 94 years old and still tight as new, a testament to its design. Compare this gun to any other offerings for condition and features and you will agree it is priced to sell. Thanks for looking!
