Description: General Specs: Francotte , c1936, .410 Bore, 4lbs. 10oz. Chokes CYL/M, LOP 14 5/16″, DAH 2 1/2″, DAC 1 3/8″ Serial Number: 8013 Auguste Francotte is world famous as a high-quality firearms maker from the gun making center of Liege, Belgium dating back as far as 1805 and doing business into the early 21st century making fine shotguns with price tags starting at $18,000. Francotte is a brand recognized and used by heads of state, business tycoons, and in some cases, the fortunate “Average Joe”. They are nicely built side by sides with a solid reputation for graceful looks and handling characteristics as well as rock solid dependability. This fine Francotte is a very nice find, a boxlock extractor with 27 1/2″ barrels and an English gripped stock of nicely figured French walnut. Built circa 1936, serial number 8013 is in wonderful overall condition. The barrels have mirror bores, are choked Cylinder and Modified, and ribs that ring like bells and are chambered for 2 1/2” shells. An honest little double, it has some field marks from its adventures. It comes fitted with a straight/splinter stock configuration capped off with a wooden butt plate. However, if you’d like to upgrade to a purdy style pad contact us and we’ll be happy to add one to this little Francotte, all alterations to purchased guns are given priority, a Purdey pad takes about a week. A unique quality of this little Belgian double is that its built upon a .410 frame as opposed to a 20-gauge frame, thus you get a true scaled .410 double. The receiver retains 95% factory case color with engraved borders and scroll still sharp from the engraver’s chisel. The action features delicate side clips, superb screws and wood to metal fit including a rebated frame; both hinge and action are tight with the lever sitting center. This is a gorgeous Belgium gun with chokes that cover a wide range of shooting scenarios – ideal for game like quail, Woodcock, or even pheasant if you’re a good shot! The dainty little gun weighs just 4lbs 10oz. making an ideal gun for long days in the woods and uplands, a truly versatile gun from one of the best Belgium gun makers.
