Description:
Early high grade damascus gun with very good bbls and intercepting sears, sound nicely figured wood and lots of tight engraving. 7 1/4 lb gun with stout 30"x2 3/4" bbls bored R732-722 (IC) and L 736-702 (Full), bright with no pitting. Bbl finish is good with lots of contrast and only minor discoloration and may be original. Excellent screws, greener crossbolt, extensive tight scroll engraving on action with threaded action pins, not the usual push pins. Unusual intercepting sears. Stock is nicely figured with strong original fine checkering, 14 1/4" LOP through new Silvers pad, 1 3/4" and 2 3/4" drops with moderate cast off for RH shooter. Prior owner's initials in fancy engraving on grip cap. Sliver missing from edge of forend, otherwise no uglies. Wood has had light restoration, no sanding, just a cleaning and hand-rubbed oil to bring out the fine figure in the wood, and the checkering has been cleaned (yes, that's 32 LPI on the panels).
