George Gibbs 16 Bore Boxlock from 1900 ~ 6 lbs. even!
Will make an exceptional upland shotgun
Description: Boxlocks - A lovely older 16ga Gibbs from 1900 with great chokes and dimensions for upland game. It points well and feels nimble to swing. The classic English concave game rib is signed \'George Gibbs Ltd 37 Baldwin Street Bristol\'. The action has picked up a pleasing brown patina. There is some very fine pitting on the outside of the barrels which could easily be struck off but would involve a re-blacking of the barrels if one wanted to spruce the old girl up. I would leave her just as she is and get her out in the field. At 6 lbs. even this is a Chucker killer! The wood stock extension has been done well and provides a comfortable LOP but could be removed or replaced easily enough if you wanted a recoil pad. *** Note: To see this gun with high resolution photos and a zoom-in feature, go to the vintagedoubles main site and search for the gun ID: 5988 or browse the main site to see our full gun collection.
