W. W. GREENER GRADE “M” EJECTOR PIGEON GUN. Monarch grade
SN 47996. (ca 1898) Cal. 12 ga. ″ Chambers 2.75”. 30″ Dovetailed steel bbls with raised, flat, matted rib having a pigeon engraved just before the rib extension. The rib itself is engraved “W. W. Greener. 68 Haymarket London & St. Mary’s Square Birmingham. England.” and “Winner at the London Gun Trials, 1875, 1877, 1878 & 1879. “Siemen Steel” on tops. Monarch Grade. “M” grade. Bbl flats and bottoms of bbls are stamped with Birmingham black powder proofs, SNs, elephant logos, and “Siemens”. It was a case hardened A and D box lock action with cross bolt third fastener, does have a side safety. The finish now is a silver patina. Action is engraved with 30% coverage well cut small scroll. “W. W. GREENER” is in scroll terminated ribands on each side. Blued steel trigger guard is engraved with scroll on bow and SN on long tang. Borderless point pattern checkering is truncated. Splinter ejector forend has Anson release and is fitted with Baker ejectors. Checkering on forend is worn thin. Iron is stamped with “Patent Ejector” and engraved “Grade M”. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain most of what appears to be a well done re black and at 95%. Top lever and trigger guard retain a considerable amount of their orig bright blue.. Stocks retain most of an old oil finish, with a number of light handling marks. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Ejectors are in time.
