Description: General Specs: W.W. Greener, 1936, 12 Gauge, 5lbs. 6oz., Chokes IC/F, LOP14 3/4", DAH 2 5/16", DAC 1 3/8" Serial Number: 69563 Vintage Firearms is pleased to offer this handsome W.W. Greener SxS boxlock, from one of the most respected names in British gun making. Greener has built everything from rugged working grade boxlocks to exquisite sidelock exhibition pieces. W.W. Greener’s origins begin in 1829, when William Greener began building percussion muzzle loading guns. After Williams’s death, his son William Wellington Greener merged his father’s factory with his own, during this time he continued his father’s innovative legacy, and patented a swath of firearm components, his most famous of which is the Greener crossbolt. After W. W.’s death his progeny continues the legacy, today, W.W. Greener is still producing classic English Doubles. This featherweight example- it weighs just 5lbs. 6oz.- was manufactured in 1936 and is serial number 69563. The slim receiver shows 60% factory case color remaining, fading in areas to a soft silver finish, the trigger guard retains 97% finish. The hand engraved delicate English scroll is crisp and clear and shows 50% coverage. The barrels have been professionally re-blued and are IN PROOF, they are chambered for 7/8 ounce 2” shells, (Vintage Firearms has 2” shells available, please call to enquire) have mirror bores, well timed ejectors and are jug choked- Improved Cylinder and Full. The barrels feature a concave rib with precious metal inlay at the breech. Additionally, the gun is mechanically excellent and is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN HAVING THE ACTION AND FOREND IRON STRIPPED, ULTRASONIC CLEANED, ALL PARTS SCRUBBED CLEAN, INSPECTED FOR FUNCTION AND INTEGRITY, LUBRICATED, AND REASSEMBLED, NOW CARRYING A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY. This is a $450 service in our shop. The English stock features good figure with plenty of fiddleback and is finished with a checkered butt.
