12 Gauge "TRAP GUN MACHINE MADE" Hammer Gun
Description: SOLD. 12 Gauge Belgian Made Hammer Gun marked “TRAP GUN MACHINE MADE --- LAMINATED STEEL” on top rib. Left side of the receiver is marked “Machine Made” and the right side of receiver is marked “Pat’d June 20 1883”. Serial number “32492” is stamped onto the water table of the receiver and barrel flats. Fore end iron also marked with “32492” plus “22808”. Various other marks on the barrel flats and receiver including E over LG. Barrels are 30 inches long and look to be choked Full in the left barrel and the right barrel is about cylinder. Barrels have no dents and the bores have some pitting. Top and bottom rib are solid with no looseness. The top rib has a dolls head extension into the receiver. 2 ½ inch chambers. Checkered walnut 1/2 pistol grip stock and fore end wood. Bone or ebony tip is missing from the fore end. Horn, gutta purcha or spurred butt plate with scene and basket weave. The stock measures 14” length of pull, 2” drop at comb and 3 ¼” drop at heel. Solid stock with no cracks or splits. Small chip in stock at right side of stock at the heel of the butt plate. Small chip also on the right side of the stock at the pistol grip near trigger guard. See pictures for more detail. Gun weighs 7 pounds even. Overall in nice original condition and appears to function just fine. Both hammer springs are strong and robust. Not recommended for shooting due to its age and laminated barrels. Not certain if the gun was made prior to January 1, 1899 so would like to ship it to a C&R or FFL.
