Description: 14 Gauge | Solid Concave Rib & Damascus Barrels | 6 lbs 11 ½ oz
The Belgian Model 14 Muzzle Loader is a refined testament to the late 19th-century era of percussion firearms, showcasing the sophisticated engineering and artistry for which the region&s master gunmakers were world-renowned. Designed as a traditional side-by-side hammergun, this piece captures the elegance and functional grace required for the aristocratic sporting pursuits of the late Victorian period.
This 1898 unit is exceptionally elegant, featuring deeply chiseled grapevine and scroll engraving throughout the action and outstanding Damas Bernard Crolle barrels that transition from octagon to round with decorative wedding band engraving. Much of the original browning remains across the 28" barrels, and while there is a noted repair at the toe of the straight English walnut stock, the firearm maintains a highly sophisticated aesthetic.
This versatile hammergun is accompanied by its high-condition ramrod and features a gold damascened concave rib and an engraved steel buttplate. It balances at a nimble 6 lbs 11 ½ oz and remains mechanically sound, representing a premier and well-preserved example of antique Belgian craftsmanship.
