These guns are known for their quality and were some of the best side-by-side shotguns made in America. The Anson & Deeley design is the fundamental mechanical framework for many modern boxlock shotguns…This fine gun is one of only about 3500 made . It is #25, made circa 1882…It has fine  26"Damascus  barrels, with Belgian proof mark…The action was made in England, with wood and furniture of American origin…Barrel rib is roll stamped  WM R Schaefer & Son Boston" and was most likely retailed by them…Overall fine shooting condition, with repaired crack at wrist…Worth notice is the unique H&R butt plate and wonderfully engraved owners shield at the toe of the stock…
