Superb Holland & Holland 20 GA “Cavalier” SXS Shotgun
Offered here as a monthly “featured” item is this superb engraved Holland & Holland "The Cavalier" box lock DESIRABLE 20 GA Ejector Shotgun. With blacked chopperlump barrels respectively signed "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" and "33 BRUTON STREET LONDON" and engraved with a band of foliage at each breech. Concave rib with bead front sight, signed "THE CAVALIER" and engraved with a small spray of scrollwork at the breech end. Border and scroll engraved case hardened scallop backed action with gold inlaid "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" on each side, automatic safety with gold inlaid "SAFE", blued top lever and blued floor plate, this last with gold inlaid "THE CAVALIER". Blued border and scroll engraved rolled edge trigger guard. Well figured checkered stock with checkered grip and forearm. 26" barrels
 The underside of the butt is inset with a gold escutcheon engraved with the initials of former owner. Weight: 6 lbs. 9 oz., Birmingham nitro proofmarks , 2 3/4 inch chambers, bored approximately IMPROVED CYLINDER and MODIFIED.
This specimen appears to have been used very little and retains all blued finish on barrels and the case colors and gold inlay are very vibrant. Just some slight storage marking. Signatures and engraving crisp. Stock near unused with one or two very minor storage blemishes. Bores excellent. Mechanically excellent. A beautiful and classic Holland & Holland shotgun.
