YUMA TERRITORIAL PRISON HUSQVARNA Double Barrel SxS 12g Shotgun C&R
INLAID BADGE in Stock
Description: YUMA TERRITORIAL PRISON HUSQVARNA Double Barrel SxS 12g Shotgun C&R INLAID BADGE in Stock Here we present a C&R Yuma Territorial Prison Marked Husqvarna Double Barrel Side x Side Shotgun, made circa the early 1900s in Sweden. Sitting on a bluff overlooking the Colorado River, three miles west of the confluence of the Colorado and the historic Gila River, stand the ruins of Arizona’s famous Territorial Prison. Yuma began to experience the American westward surge when countless immigrants crossed by ferry from Yuma on their way to the California gold fields in 1849. In 1850, a military post was established at Yuma, and when rich placer gold strikes on the Colorado River precipitated a gold rush in 1858, Yuma experienced a boom. In 1871 Yuma incorporated and became the county seat of Yuma County. The Territorial Prison was authorized by the Legislature in 1875 and $25,000 was budgeted for the project. Ground was broken on April 28, 1876, and some of the prisoners were pressed into service to build their cells. The first seven inmates moved into the facility on July 1, 1876. The Prison held a variety of law violators, including the legendary stagecoach robber Pearl Hart. The Prison continued in operation for 33 years when, due to overcrowding, all inmates were moved to a new facility in Florence, Arizona. This Husqvarna shotgun is marked Vapenfabriks AB. Vapenfabriks loosely translates to weapon factory or fabrications. The “AB.” designation is an abbreviation for Aktiebolag, which means “limited corporation,” similar to our LLC. Established in 1689, Husqvarna has made, through its colorful history, everything from black powder musket barrels to motorcycles, stoves, and sewing machines. Over the years it manufactured wartime fighting rifles as well as a spectrum of Mauser-actioned hunting rifles based on several different surplus military and commercial actions. Eventually, the company began manufacturing its own Mauser-pattern actions in the mid-1950s. The overall condition is fair to good. Patina throughout. The top tang of the frame as well as the surrounding wrist has been repaired. The actions are excellent. The bores are bright and smooth. The rear swing swivel is absent. The stock shows much use and is solid with the repair described above. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 18-5/8 inches. Caliber: 12 Gauge Chambers: 2-3/4 inches. Chokes: Improved Cylinder/Improved Cylinder LOP: 14-1/2 inches. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee.
