Ithaca NID 28 gauge Field Grade with ejectors, NST, and Beavertail forend!
Description: Those of you interested in this gun probably already know that Ithaca only made 400 28 gauge guns out of a total production of approximately 48,000 guns! Of these 400, 295 were field grades. The vast majority of these were built as plain field guns without any extras and had cocking indicators on the frame. Around 1934-5, ithaca did a bit of a redesign and eliminated the indicators and made a few other cosmetic changes that enhanced the guns overall look. This particular gun is an early non-indicator gun. It's got selective ejectors, a rear position non-selective single trigger and the later style longer beavertail forend with ebony insert. With this combination of extras, it's a very scarce specimen! Now about this gun---it's been totally refinished and retains 99% of those finishes. The mechanics and bores are excellent and it shoots right where you are looking. The serial numbers match on the frame barrels and forearm. I believe the buttstock is a restock, but very well done and closely resembles the original design. The recoil pad is a No-Shoc reproduction, but nicely done. The dimensions are shooter friendly. LOP is 13 7/8 inches to the rear position single trigger. If it had double triggers it would approach 15 inches total. The drops are 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches. The barrels are 26 inches long and choked skeet and light modified. .003 and .013. Great for the field or fun clays! It has twin ivory beads. The trigger works as it should, as do the ejectors. I see the prices asked for similar and, quite frankly, lesser guns and I think the buyer will be pleased with their investment in this gun. Look around and compare--although they're hard to find. There are few choices in an American SxS 28 gauge. Parkere are in the stratosphere price wise. Iver Johnson's are kinda clunky! There are no original Foxes and only one LC Smith, so your options are limited. Use Buy Now and I'll pay shipping and insurance to the lower 48. SOLD |
