SOLD PENDING FUNDS RECEIPT - - - -Here is a little jewel that spent its entire life with one family, up until a couple of years ago. This is the story of it. A father took his two sons into a general store near Terre Haute, IN, many years ago and told them they could each have their pick of any shotgun being displayed. The one brother picked this little .410 double. How rare was it to have this Ithaca sitting in the rack with ejectors and single, non selective trigger? Even more, how rare for it to survive in this condition? This was a school boy's rabbit and squirrel gun. Obviously, he did not use it all that much.
He passed away several years ago and his brother says the gun stayed in a closet for the last 50 or so years and was called on to literally thin out chipmunks that got into places they shouldn't be in.
My friend that I am listing this for has been friends with the surviving brother for nearly a lifetime. He had always admired this little gun and the surviving brother had promised him he would sell it to him once his brother passed. The original owner had severe health issues for many years and finally passed. And, as promised, his brother sold the gun to my friend.
Now, we are all getting up in years and my friend is liquidating most of his collection. He has held on to this one until toward the end, but it is time for it to go. The pictures pretty much tell the story. Bores of the 26" barrels are pristine. Light blue wear as you see it. Ebony insert in forend. Everything functions as it should. Both bores measures appx. 0.382" or so. 3" chambers. I think it is choked full and full but really can't decipher the stampings. Old eyes make it tough.
I can email pictures to you and answer any questions you have. I know little about older Ithaca shotguns but have the gun in hand so I can look for any additioinal information you need.
You will look a long time to find another to match this one.
