The conditon of this fine old US Made 20 ga Double is incredible Made in 1940lkfll. Other than a small chip (easly repaired) at the upper tang there is hardly a mark of any kind on this gun !!!!! Made by real crafstmen and workers before the middle of the last century this gun looks like it was kept in a time capsule. The Western Arms was the hardware store version of the Old Ithac gun company. And althougth not expensive at the time they are very solid and durable; a real workhorse and vastly more class and substance than any modern doubles at double the price. Bores are mirror with a very small dent visible left barrell
This gun appears to have never been carried in the woods and may have been test fired only. Most of these were plain and uncheckdered but this one has exceptional nice clean factory checkering. the case colors are as bright as when it left the factory (some loss of blue underside of receiver) Made in 1940 or so. Production ceased in approx 1948. Some 80 + thousand werer made; despite the depression a huge # were sold !!!! Barrels are 28 and approx M&F. Stock is a little over 14.

The conditon of this fine old US Made 20 ga Double is incredible Made in 1940lkfll. Other than a small chip (easly repaired) at the upper tang there is hardly a mark of any kind on this gun !!!!! Made by real crafstmen and workers before the middle of the last century this gun looks like it was kept in a time capsule. The Western Arms was the hardware store version of the Old Ithac gun company. And althougth not expensive at the time they are very solid and durable; a real workhorse and vastly more class and substance than any modern doubles at double the price. Bores are mirror with a very small dent visible left barrell
This gun appears to have never been carried in the woods and may have been test fired only. Most of these were plain and uncheckdered but this one has exceptional nice clean factory checkering. the case colors are as bright as when it left the factory (some loss of blue underside of receiver) Made in 1940 or so. Production ceased in approx 1948. Some 80 + thousand werer made; despite the depression a huge # were sold !!!! Barrels are 28 and approx M&F. Stock is a little over 14.
