1952 Ithaca 4E Single Barrel Trap
Description: Ithaca Single barrel knick Trap gun manufactured in 1952 at the Ithaca NY Factory in the Famed Knick room where select gun makers custom fit each and every trap gun- individually start to finish before and after the engraving and stock checkering was completed. This gun was sent with other trap guns to a midwest dealer in 1952. The badge is inscribed with "M.O Lee 1952" who was more than likely the first proud owner of the new trap gun. The trail of the gun after him owning it is unknown, but the gun shows very little use as it retains its original Case coloring boldly and minimal wear the the water table, face, and barrel jeweling. The lever is to the right as excpected with a low use trap gun. There are two places on the forend that the finish is removed (photos) on opposite sides. Also the barrel has a couple scratches (photos). The comb drop is at 1-5/8", while the Heel drop is 2". LOP at 14.5 the end of decelerator pad and 13.5 to end of wood. When purchased over 10 years ago, I took it to my trap club and smashed 20/25 first and only time out with it. I just felt it was too nice to be used regularly. So back into the safe it went, never to be shot again. Strangely, two weeks after this gun was purchased, the previous consecutive numbered gun was up for sale-so I purchased that one and now use it for the trap field. Theres just something about the Ithaca trap guns that speaks nostalgia other than their age- the quality is tops and the feel is second to none. The 1950s Ithaca trap gun is one to have in a collection.
