Iver Johnson Cycle Works 12 gauge Double Shotgun

Early Iver Johnson Cycle Works S x S  Double Barrel 12 Gauge Shotgun. This is a Hercules Grade which was considered to be the Finest Utility Doubles aka as
Hammer Forged. The 30 inch barrels were color case hardened. The serial number 15849 indicates manufacture between 1909 and 1919. The weight is 7.5 pounds and the overall length is 47 inches.
 Gun is in pretty good condition for the age. The wood is in good condition except for a small piece of the stock that is missing at the rear of the receiver. (See Photo).
The butt plate was replaced at one time with a rubber recoil pad. The take down, triggers, safety, and ejector appear to function properly.
The barrel are in good condition and the bores are clean and clear. The customary engraving of a dog on point on the left side is quite visible. Although the previous owner used this gun for quail hunting, it is recommended that any purchaser seek out the services of a qualified gunsmith before attempting to fire the gun.
There is an assumption that the wood might have been coated at one time. The checkering on the grip remains quite nice. This is a collectible piece which would be a nice addition to a collection. Company policy dictates that it will only ship to a C & R or FFL.
