Iver Johnson Hercules .410 Bore - HIGH CONDITION, ENGLISH STOCK
Description: Iver Johnson Hercules .410 Bore SxS Shotgun HIGH CONDITION, ENGLISH STOCK General Specs: Iver Johnson, Year 1932, .410 Bore, 5lbs 11oz, Side by Side Serial Number: 10174 Now I know that the Iver Johnson Hercules is NOT a Parker, L.C. Smith, or an Ithaca NID. But it was a maker of well respected guns in the early days of the 20th century and an important part of America's firearm heritage. We have cleaned and inspected the inside of this gun, and it is a very well made, well designed little boxlock with quality forged action parts. In the world of vintage American doubles, the .410 bore has always been highly sought after and costly. Of the big 5 makers, only Ithaca, Parker, and L.C. Smith produced the .410, and in miniscule numbers. To purchase one of the above guns in good factory original condition, the price tag starts at $5000 and in the case of the Parker, exceeds $20,000! Enter the Iver Johnson Arms and Cycle Works Hercules Grade side by side in .410 bore. With its case colored frame, checkered walnut stocks, and rust blue barrels it was a quality gun at an affordable price. They surface occasionally, but most are in rather poor condition and have short, cut off butt stocks and still cost you close to $2500. An affordable .410 vintage American double for sure. This gun is a COLLECTOR QUALITY GUN IN EXCELLENT ORIGINAL CONDITION. Serial number 10174, made in about 1932 shortly after they first appeared in the Iver Johnson catalogs, is a gorgeous little .410. The wood has been nicely restored, but all other finishes are honest factory finishes. The gun was very well cared for, with just a little carry wear on the barrels and bottom of the receiver. Screws and wood are in excellent condition. Not a split or chip anywhere in the wood. A great little gun for your shooting fun and a real find for your collection. An honest gun like this will always be desirable and a good investment.
