Description:
This is a Joseph Lang of London keylock sidelock side-by-side in 12 gauge. A very scarce and unusual design, this hand detachable keylock opening lock system features a small hinged door that lifts to reveal a skeleton lock hole that allows a special key to be inserted and turned counterclockwise about 1/8 inch turn unlatching a bolt in the rear of the sideplate and, while holding the key in that position, lifts to remove the lock plates. The lock bridles are gold plated for corrosion resistance while the balance of the lock parts are nickel plated. The right barrel tube is engraved "Joseph Lang & Son, 102 New Bond Street London" and the left tube is engraved "Abercrombie & Fitch Co. New York U.S.A.". Fine English rose and scroll engraving with "Joseph Lang & Son" engraved on both sides of the action. This shotgun features cocking indicators, nicely figured English walnut with extra-fine checkering, a stock escutcheon embossed "RGK", drop points and leather covered recoil pad. Length of pull is 14 5/8" over a rear position single trigger with 1 1/4" drop at comb, 1 7/8" drop at heel and 1/2" cast-off. Weight is 7 pounds, 8 ounces. The shotgun features ejectors, rolled edge trigger guard, splinter fore end and an automatic safety with "SAFE" inlaid in gold. The 28" fluid-steel, nitro-proofed barrels and file-cut rib retain their original 2 3/4" chambers (as engraved on the barrels) which now have modern thin wall choke tubes possibly attributed to Briley installed, making this an upland shooters dream. Included is the original oak & leather fitted hard case complete with original Lang trade labels which are marked with matching serial number to the gun as well as a full assortment of original Lang accessories (pewter oil bottle, Lang snap caps, rosewood cleaning rod, brush and jag) plus the original lock keys in a leather pouch. 12 Gauge
