Very Nice Joseph Lang 12 ga, Boxlock, Ejector with Original Makers Case
Description: For sale from my collection of English doubles is this very nice, with original makers case, Joseph Lang Box Lock Ejector 12 ga. 28” seamless sleeved nitro proof barrels that are in fantastic shape with mirror bores. Blackening remains at 90+ percent with front bead and raised rib at breech end. Serial No. 8379 was made between 1896 and 1898 according to Nigel Brown, expert on English makers, although records are sketchy during this time period, allowing for the two year range. Receiver has gone to silver and maker name worn but visible and clear on barrel rib. The English walnut stock is in very good shape with line grooved end grain butt plate, and minor wear marks. LOP 15”. DAH 2 1/2”. DAC 1 1/2”. Makers case in good shape for its age. Lock works and makers label readable. Leather straps on out side of case not available. This is an ejector again with nitro barrels which I have shot myself using RST shells, which I recommend for all vintage collectors and hunters. Forearm in very good condition with Anson release. Safety lettering originally gold plated but has worn to what appears to be copper. Gun is shipped in case and wrapped in gun smithing tissue wrap. Lang locks up tight and trigger pull is crisp. This is a high quality double with a lot of life left in it for the sportsman or hunter. As for Joseph Lang, he was one of London’s most prolific gun makers. The son-in-law of James Purdey, he was one of the first pioneers of breech loading sporting forearms in the 1850’s. The firm became Joseph Lang & Son in 1875 after his son, also named Joseph, apprenticed at Purdey. Lang moved to 10 Pall Mall in 1890. In 1914 Lang reached an agreement with Abercrombie & Fitch where they became their only agent in the US for 5 years. In 1925 Stephen Grant merged with the firm and in 1930 became Atkin, Grant & Lang and still operate under that name. We strive to accurately describe all guns sold including photos. FFL or your C&R accepted. C&R applies to firearms as determined by BATFE to be over 50 years of age. Form of payment to be USPS money order in the amount of sale plus shipping. Will be shipped in sturdy firearms gun box with additional protection. Shipping East of Miss $40.00, West of Miss. $50.00. Please ask any questions as we welcome you to contact us and usually respond the same day. Contact me at the end of the for FFL instructions and payment. Thank you.
