L.C. Smith Grade 5E 12 Gauge Side-by-Side UNTOUCHED ORIGINAL CONDITION!
Description: L.C. Smith Grade 5E 12 Gauge Side-by-Side UNTOUCHED ORIGINAL CONDITION! General Specs: LC Smith, Year 1908, 12 Gauge, 8lbs, SxS Serial Number: 210209 Vintage American double gunners recognize L.C. Smith guns built before 1913 as the best of their kind, with more attention to detail, better stock inletting, and even nicer engraving than the named models that came post 1913. Few high grades were made, with only 414 Grade 5 guns produced in the 12 gauge. This gun, sn210209 made in 1908 is one of them, and one of only about 45 or so ever made with the English style stock. What a gorgeous gun, with 30" barrels choked F/F (use spreader loads for more open choking, or we can alter chokes in our shop within 2 weeks of purchase), weighing 8lbs. and balanced perfectly 1/8" ahead of the hinge pin, exceptional engraving, great bores, nicely figured English walnut, and lots of factory original case color remaining on the receiver. We have the original hang tag with this gun (great condition tag!) along with an original correspondence from the owner to the factory and the factory's response. A nice touch to see the history! When considering upland game, waterfowl, turkey, pigeons, or clay targets, this gun is ready for all. Collector interest in L.C. Smith has become brisk, with prices rising and creating a great investment opportunity. Consider what a Parker Grade 5, or BHE, would cost in this condition (over $16,000) and you realize what a bargain this is. I consider the Grade 5 Elsie to be one of the most beautiful of the American doubles, no matter what the cost. Just look at the detail in the dog's features, the intricate scroll and bouquet engraving throughout, and the gorgeous borders. Check out the wood to metal fit, screws, checkering...what a nice, original, 108 year old gun! Even the trigger guard retains 95% of the original charcoal blue. The condition of this gun is "as found" with no restoration...all factory finishes. Grade 5's don't come up for sale very often, so don't miss your opportunity! Barrels Barrel Length: 30" Chokes: F/F .030/.030 Bores: great bores Bore Diameter: .728/.728 Wall Thickness: .028/.026 % Blue: 85% Chambers: 2 3/4" Ribs: tight Sights: double ivory Action Action: tight, right of center Ejectors or Extractors: ejectors, strong, timed both Case Color: 90% Screws: excellent Engraving: crisp, awesome Trigger Type: single selective trigger rear - crisp, excellent Trigger Guard Color: 98% Stock Type: english straight grip/splinter forend/ English walnut LOP: 14 3/16" LOP To End Of Wood: 13 1/8" DAH: 2 1/8" DAC: 1 3/8" Cast: 1/8" off Checkering Condition: 28 lines per inch excellent Butt Treatment: factory hawkins There are more photos upon request.
