L.C. Smith Specialty 12 gauge- ULTRALIGHT 6LBS 4oz 98% CONDITION!
Description: L.C. Smith Specialty 12 Gauge SxS ULTRALIGHT 6LBS. 4OZ., 98% CONDITION! General Specs: LC Smith, Year 1915, 12 Gauge, 6lbs 4oz, Side-by-Side Serial Number: 218678E On rare occasion you find a 6 3/4lb. 12 bore vintage American double gun. In 20 years of chasing American doubles and having thousands go through my hands, I have seen less than 10 doubles under 6 3/4lbs., and one of them is in my personal hunting arsenal not for sale. Now ask how many I have seen under 6 1/2lbs. and I come up with 3, and all were L.C. Smith guns. One was 6lbs. 7oz., another 6lbs. 5oz, and this one weighs just 6 1/4lbs.! This Elsie, sn218678E made in 1915 is factory original (original pad was rock hard, crushed, and crumbling. We replaced with an original vintage Hawkins pad) and WEIGHS LESS THAN MOST ELSIE 16 OR 20 GAUGE GUNS! The barrels still have 98% barrel blue, perfect bores, no dents or dings. The Featherweight action has perfect screws, 98% vivid case color, 92% charcoal blue on the trigger guard, perfect mechanics with strong well-timed ejectors and Hunter One Trigger that functions flawlessly. The original wood finish rates excellent with the normal hunting/carry marks, no cracks, nearly flawless factory checkering, and nice English walnut with contrasting figure. THIS IS AN AMAZING 12GA. L.C. SMITH! Notice too that these real early guns have more refined and detailed checkering than the later Specialty Grades. If you can carry a 12 bore that weighs the same as a 20 gauge you have the ideal upland gun; easy to carry all day and with superior shot patterns and short shot strings. When you decide you need a heavier load, you have choices you just don’t have with a 20ga. This gun is special; condition, ejectors, single selective trigger, nicely figured wood, and ultra-light weight makes it a one-of-a-kind, investment quality shotgun. When you consider a Purdey Lightweight Game gun costing over $100K weighs the same as this Elsie you get the idea of its value. There are many 12ga. Specialty guns for less money out there, but they lack condition, have replaced or restored parts, short stocks, heavy weights, etc. I CAN SAFELY SAY YOU WILL NOT ENCOUNTER ANOTHER ELSIE LIKE THIS ONE. A good friend of mine, since past-on to the great hunting grounds in the sky, used to say "Where you gonna find another one?" Don't let this one pass you by. You will not likely see another like it. Thanks for looking!
