The finest known L.C. Smith 8ga - Grade 4 (1 of 2 made) in near mint original condition - Investment Grade in every aspect
Description: Made in 1896, this exceptionally rare and fine - L.C. Smith Grade 4 8 Gauge. This gun, one of just 2 made in this grade and widely recognized by collectors as the single finest 8ga L.C. Smith extant! Gun made with 32" fine Damascus barrels, checkered splinter forend, extractors, double triggers, and special ordered with no safety as seen in the photos. The gun is engraved in the earlier style with game scenes at the back of the locks. The capped pistol grip has a gold inlaid oval with the name "Waldo Hack / Baltimore, MD" The gun has a beautiful piece of European Walnut and terminates with its undoubtedly original pad. This gun was discovered 10-15 years ago in an estate in MD. It was sold by a small company to a major East Coast Collector and we have the gun from that distinguished gentleman's estate. This gun remains in superb original condition. The barrel retain more than 95% of their stunning original damascus pattern. Forearm is sound and excellent with nearly all of its original finish and only minor handling marks. Forend iron and trigger guard with nearly all of their original blue. The frame and sidelocks with virtually all of their bold original case color. The stock is superb with the tiniest of drying losses on the one bottom stock finger, otherwise near mint with only minor handling marks. Bores are brilliant and shiny. The mechanics are crisp, top lever is substantially right of center. The gun appears to be all original, untouched, and factory test fired only.
