Fantastic all original Lefever Special Order - C or B Quality - 12ga Sidecocker- the cleanest all original example I’ve ever seen!
Description: The first commercially viable hammerless double ever made in America - The D.M. Lefever side cocking gun. This gun, made with 30" fine damascus barrels, splinter forend with push button release that is beautifully scalloped border checkered. The fences are nicely sculted in fleur de lis patter and locks are engraved with double dogs and scroll on right side, Setter on left with flushing woodcock in front of lever. Bottom of frame with engraved rails and full length trigger guard with setter and scroll engraving. The capped pistol grip buttstock is checkered in scalloped border pattern through the wrist with tear drops behind the locks and terminates with its original checkered horn buttplate with engraved screws. The top tang has two small holes, obviously factory, which indicate this gun was originally mounted with a tang sight and most certainly had a second set of rifle barrels with it. I do not have the rifle barrels, but they may still exist. The quality of this gun cannot be overstated! Overall, the gun remains in pristine untouched original condition which is impossible to find for a sidecocking Lefever. The gun retains about 90% original damascus pattern. Action retains more than 1/2 of its light original case color with perfect screws. Stocks are sound and retain more than 90% of their original finish with crisp checkering and only minor handling marks. Bores are mostly bright and shiny with only very minor beginning orange peel in one or two places. Mechanics are fine. For a gun that is nearly 140 years old, this is as fine a specimen as one could hope to find! You will spend a lifetime trying to find a cleaner more original sidecocker than this one - I have seen way more than 50 of these sidecockers in my lifetime and this is absolutely the most choice I've ever encountered. Absolutely creme de la creme! This gun is priced at $8,250 plus shipping to your door as an antique.
