Lefever C grade - fore end ejectors - *RARE*
Description: This is a RARE Lefever C grade ejector 12 gauge made circa 1893. It is rare on THREE points: (1) the condition, and (2) the fore end ejector mechanism, and (3) the engraving. Condition: Very good, with case colors in places, incredible wood with minimal blemishes, dent-free barrels, aged red Silver’s butt pad. Ejectors: Dan Lefever had three patents for ejectors (1892, 1894 & 1895), the first two for fore end ejector mechanisms, and the last for in-frame ejectors. It is the in-frame ejectors which were used exclusively after introduction through to the end of the company. This gun has the 2nd pattern fore end ejector mechanism, featuring screws which if backed out, make the ejectors merely “extract.” How rare is this? I have only ever seen 3 other guns which had this type of mechanism, one of which is the President Benjamin Harrison gun featured in Bob Elliott’s second Lefever book. Engraving: The gun is not signed, but it’s my firm and studied belief that it was done by Jacob Glahn. I assert this based on both the style of known signed guns, and on the timeline of the gun’s production and the arc of Glahn’s known work history. The Damascus pattern is strong, the barrels ring true, the bores are beautiful, the ejectors work, firing pins make solid strikes and the lock-up up is tight. The gun feels dainty in your hands, and the dimensions are very modern (see below). If you have been looking to acquire a rare and striking high grade gun, you won’t see another like this for a while. * I am NOT a dealer. ** Due to NY State gun law, I MUST ship to an FFL, despite the fact that the gun is an "antique" according to the ATF. *** Yes, I'm aware that's outrageous. I’m sorry…idiots are like flies in our state. SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Lefever Arms Co.
