Lefever Nitro Special Shotgun, 12 Gauge, 28" Barrel
Description:
The Lefever Nitro Special chambered in 12 Gauge with a 28-inch barrel is a legendary, ultra-durable side-by-side (SxS) double-barrel shotgun manufactured in Ithaca, New York, between 1921 and 1948. Introduced by the Lefever Arms Company (which was owned and operated by the Ithaca Gun Company), the Nitro Special was specifically designed as a rugged, affordable "working man's" field gun. The 28-inch barrel configuration is considered the most versatile and balanced length for this model, making it a favorite for upland bird hunting and small game. Chamber 2 ¾-inch shells only. Modern high-pressure heavy magnum loads or steel shot should never be fired through these vintage barrels. Use only low-pressure lead or modern bismuth field loads to prevent fracturing the old wood or stretching the steel frame. Features a standard automatic extractor that lifts fired shells slightly out of the chambers for manual removal, rather than ejecting them completely. 12 Gauge
