JOSEPH MANTON & SONS 15 BORE S X S PERCUSSION SHOTGUN

Description:
This superbly engraved Joseph Manton 15-bore was likely made c.irca 1830, and is numbered '9885' on the trigger guard rail. It has beautiful wood and gorgeous Damascus barrels, 31.5” long, with most of the original brown finish. Barrel reads “JOSEPH MANTON & SONS PATENT 6 HOLLIS STREET CAVENDISH SQUARE LONDON. Locks function perfectly and the plate reads: “JOSEPH MANTON & SONS PATENTEES”. It sports a gold thumb piece, platinum blow plugs, breech plated in platinum, and the butt plate has remnants of platinum plate. Original cones and original ebony ramrod. The gun has been used and shows minor wear on the stock and old, inactive corrosion on the butt plate (shown). At some point the hammer spurs were broken and repaired by brazing. The gun has had light cleaning and the bores are polished and without rust or pitting. LOP = 14" and weighs 6 pounds 12 ounces and comes up like a dream. $2,100, plus $65 shipping.  I accept money orders (preferred)and bank or personal checks.
