Merkel Combo, 12 ga (xtra full choke ( .050)) over 9.3x72R.. Barrels by Krupp 27",bores on both rifle and shotgun are fine.
Made for retailer L. Frauenstorfer of Mannheim. "G/M" sheild on barrel lug,frame-twice and buttplate,Very fine checkered wood with nice color and figure.
Horn inserts in both side of cheeks,center of forend and fluted grip cap.Scalloped frame with nice tight scroll,all the screws have set screws and all timed .
Cocking indicators,set screw for rifle barrel, European sling swivels,Kirsten lug and cross bolt.Solid rib with one fixed and one flip up sight.
Made in the 1920's s/n 12021 Crown over U (final proff) Crown over N on Rifle barrel ( Nitro Proof) Crown over S on Shotgun barrel ( Smooth bore)
Has Sempert & Kreighoff type slide on mounts on the rib for scope (not with the gun-and probably left on another pile in Germany when the gI picked up the gun).There do seem to be a couple of options for rings-or clamp on mounts out there.
A very nice German Combo that should still be useful in the woods-S&B does make ammo for it.
