Used/excellent condition Merkel 2001EL 28ga/28", serial number 020xxx. Barrels ring true. Side ribs and top rib are solid. Action bears a silver coin finish over hand-cut game scene engraving pattern. Wood is exceptionally well-figured European walnut with oil finish over a Merkel plastic buttplate. Trigger is single-selective with selector tucked neatly at the rear of the trigger guard.

Lockup is rock solid with barrels tightly on-face. Stock finish shows minor handling marks as expected on a well cared-for preowned field gun. Barrel bluing is 95%+. Mechanical condition is excellent. Barrels open with smooth, moderate resistance. Ejectors pop at exactly the same time.
