German made 28 gauge scalloped-back boxlock ejector game shotgun. The 28” blacked steel barrels are fit with ejectors, 2-3/4” chambers, tapered machined matte flat top rib with extension, brass bead front sight and brass mid bead and are choked improved cylinder and modified. "GSI INC. T' VILLE AL // GEBR MERKEL SUHL // MADE IN GERMANY" is marked on the left barrel while "280 EL 28 GA is marked on the right barrel. Top of the rib near the breach is engraved 'No. 63 of 100' while the top of the rib extension has a '1' engraved. The coin finish action body is profusely engraved with game scenes with supporting Arabesque scrolls and features a cross bolt third fastener. The action is signed on the left side with an intertwined 'US' signature for Master Engraver Hans-Ulrich Sorg. The bottom has Arabesque scroll engraving with an image of a man at an anvil with "MERKEL" engraved underneath. Action is fit with disc-set strikers, a single trigger protected by a blacked engraved trigger guard extending to a long-engraved bottom strap and a scored push button safety on top tang. Walnut stock with straight hand grip, splinter fore-end with Deeley style lever release, 14-1/2" LOP to a black Gerbr. Merkel scored ebonite buttplate, Cast Off 1/4" at face, 5 Lbs. - 6 Oz.
