Description:
This gun is pre-HK acquisition of Merkel.  The ingraving is exquisite and the Turkish walnut stock and forearm are a work of art in themselves.  Merkel side-by-side shotguns have the reputation for quality workmanship and have achieved an historical tradition as elegant game guns.  This unique shotgun comes with two barrel sets, one in 16 ga. and one in 20 ga.  The 16 ga. barrels have had less than one box of shells fired through them and the 20 ga. has less then 300 rounds fired through them.  This exceptional game gun comes in a rich cordavan leather case.
The action is a self-locking Anson and Deely boxlock action.  It has Greener cross-bolt with double under barrel lugs.  The barrel sets are 28 inches long and the assembled gun weighs approximately 6 lbs.  The chokes are Improved Cylinder and Modified; chocks are determed by trigger selection.  The LOP is 13 1/2 inches for the front trigger and 12 1/2 for the rear trigger.  It has automatic tang-mounted sliding safety, as well as Holland and Holland ejectors.  The solid sighting rib allows the hunter to swing onto game quickly and accurately.  The fit and finishes have to be seen to truly appreciate the craftmanship that when into creating a work of art that is exceedingly functional as well.  This gun really shoots nicely.
