Winchester Model 97 Trench Gun 12 Ga WWII MFG 1943 GHD - EXCELLENT!
Description: Up for sale is a Winchester model 97 Trench Gun in 12 gauge. I have owned this shotgun for the last 3 years and purchased it from Legacy Collectibles out of Pennsylvania in 2021. It has been the pinnacle of my collection. I have fired this shotgun only one time with a reduced load to test the function before I put it in my collection and it works and ejects great. It is all original, and in excellent condition. The serial number is in the proper range for these shotguns, as shown in Bruce Canfields "Combat Shotguns". Serial number E951035 is in the most commonly encountered range of E930,000-E953,000. The original bluing I would rate at approximately 94-95%. The wood is in excellent condition as well. The buttstock is correctly fluted and stamped "GHD" and appears to have had a light coat of finish applied at some point in its life. The frame is correctly a takedown. The wrist has two extremely minor thin surface cracks from use as was very common with these shotguns. The barrel is 20" overall with no bead, and correctly a cylinder bore, with a "42" date as shown. The barrel is also correctly "WP" proofed on the top of the barrel, as well as at the top of the receiver and with the flaming bomb ordnance proof. The left side of the receiver is correctly marked "U.S." with the flaming bomb ordnance proof. The heat shield is the correct 4 row shield with front sight bead and is correctly unmarked. The buttplate is the proper black plastic winchester buttplate, with no splits, dings, or cracks. Included with this shotgun is a very rare 1917 pattern bayonet, that is dated 1918 due to a mistake by Remington; as well as a 1943 dated Milsco leather sling. Overall an excellent example of a WWII Winchester model 97 trench gun that has been a great addition to my WWII collection. Please email me with any additional questions, or requests for additional photos. I would be more than happy to oblige. Free shipping to the lower 48. 3 day unfired and non disassembly return policy. Thanks for looking! SOLD Shotgun Gauge: 12 Gauge Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 1897 Bore: Cylinder Action: Pump |
