An incredibly rare and remarkably preserved piece of American history, the iconic Winchester Model 1897 pump-action 12-gauge shotgun in trench gun configuration (Heat Shroud, Bayonet Lug, Bayonet, Sling). This highly collectible piece showcases unmistakable characteristics, featuring a crisp \"U.S.\" stamp alongside the traditional ordnance flaming bomb insignia on the left side of the receiver, as well as an additional small flaming bomb proof on the top of the barrel next to the \"12\" gauge marking. The barrel is clearly rolled with the classic \"-WINCHESTER- / -MODEL 1897-\" designation and carries an additional \"CYL\" cylinder-bore stamping on the barrel assembly. Built for rugged field reliability, it comes fully equipped with a ventilated metal heat shield and an integrated forward bayonet lug adapter—stamped with a distinct \"W\" mark on the underside—and includes a proper canvas sling and a bayonet with scabbard. Mechanically, the shotgun operates via its exposed-hammer design and boasts its legendary, rapid slam-fire capability. This historic firearm retains a beautiful, honest patina across its metalwork, while the walnut stock and ribbed forend show character-rich wear and handling marks entirely expected with its age.
