Winchester Model 1897 Trench

Description:
Winchester Model 1897 Trench Gun WW1 solid frame 12 gauge pump action shotgun. In really good shape considering its age, over 100 years, serial number E675393 falls within the range (E613000-E705000) for procurement of of WW1 model 1897s. The gun has all the martial markings as described in Canfield's COMPLETE GUIDE to United States Military Combat Shotguns (page 50), i.e. handstamped US (obvious misalignment) and flaming bomb on the right side. It has the standard 20 inch cylinder bore barrel as indicated by the "CYL" stamp. It also has the "WP" Winchester Proofed on the top of the receiver and all the slide markings. Thje buttplate is the standard factory black plastic with the Winchester logo. The sling swivels include the lower swivel inletted and screwed to the bottom of the buttstock, the upper swivel attached to the back of the bayonet lug. The gun has been parkerized and according to Canfield this can be encountered but relatively few of them were aresenal rebuilt however, this does have ordnance markings on the buttstock "O. G." (Ogden Utah) and a "W" marked bayonet lug. I have not fired the gun but the person I purchased said they did? I am selling it as shown in the photos. I have 15 more photos I can share.
