E.M. Reilly 12 Bore Sidelock Game Gun PAIR with Sidelever Opening
Description: Handsome and very nice handling pair of E.M. Reilly of 12 bore 6-pin sidelock non-ejector game guns with sidelever openers. This is a nice pair in very good mechanical condition and has recently been refurbished. Double triggers, extractors, and auto safety. Beautifully sculpted fences and profuse sharp scroll engraving on the action body. This pair, number 30356 and 30357 were made 1886 – 88. Nitro proofed in London in 1979. Presented in their oak & leather case with maker’s label, snap caps, oil bottle, and tool heads. Easy to swing during a day afield with a weight of 6lb10oz and 6lb 9oz respectively. The 28” nitro steel barrels have top extensions, are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells, and are topped by a raised solid striated rib. Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding, low pressure 2-1/2” shotshells are available in the us from ARMUSA, Game Bore, and RST Shells. The top of the left barrels of both of guns is inscribed “E.M. Reilly & Co. New Oxford Street London England”. The bluing is overall in very good condition but there are a few handling marks from normal usage. No.1: Right barrel is bored 0.729 with a constriction of 0.007 for Light Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.030. Left barrel is also bored 0.729 and has a constriction of 0.020 for Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.031. No.2: Right barrel is bored 0.731 and with a constriction of 0.007 for Light Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.028. Left barrel is also bored 0.731 and has a constriction of 0.020 for Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.031. The straighthand stock and splinter forearm are made of nicely figured European walnut. The forearms have an Anson push release. The finish is in good condition with only a few handling marks from normal usage. Checkering is crisp. The stock dimensions for the pair are 14-1/4” to a checkered butt by 1-3/8” by 2”.
