PARKER, CHE 12 Ga., No. 1 Frame, Bernard Steel Barrels, World's Fair Display Gun (recreated from admin as 102279467)
Description: PARKER BROTHERS, CHE 12 Ga., No. 1 Framed, Uniquely engraved "World's Fair Columbian Exhibition 1893", Display Gun with PGCA letter. Specifications: Ser. 71012, Weight: 6lb.-13.1 Oz., 30" Bernard Damascus Barrels, L.O.P.: 14-1/4" Over leather faced S.W. Silver Co. pad, DAC: 1-5/8", DAH: 2-1/8", Minimum Barrel Wall thicknesses: .025" Left & .026" Right, Choked: M/M. This is a gun which came to me in need of both buttstock and forend. I happened to have a CH Number 1 frame buttstock which fit on perfectly. The forend I had made to meet the requirements for ths grade gun, using wood matching the original C-quality buttstock exactly in every respect. The barrels were never re-browned or refurbished in any way--they have survived the many years since they left the Bernard foundry.. . the roll-stamped legend is still crisp and clear, and the bright bores are without flaws of any kind. The case color too has survived very well in many areas concerning the age of this gun---which, as a showpiece probably hasn't seen much action in the field. The exceptionally fine scroll and game bird engraving is unique for No. 4 Grade Parkers, and has apparently been well protected for the past approx. 126 years. I have always preferred Damascus, Fishtail top-levers, Smaller framed guns for the gauge, Exceptional wood, Unique engraving and the history the gun brings with it. This Parker Show Piece has it all. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Double Gun Journal reserves all rights to the photographs herein published and to the first world rights to publishing a story on this gun in a future issue of DGJ. I will not be accepting offers any longer--the gun will be part of my permanent collection at least until we publish a feature story about it in The Double Gun Journal.
