Parker Brothers " Field Grade O " Hammer Gun 12ga
30" Twist
Description: These elder Parker Brothers hammer guns are becoming hard to find in decent condition and at an affordable price. According to the accompanying Parker Gun Collectors Association Research Letter this gun was ordered by and shipped to the Charles Parker Co. (apparently a Parker retail firearms storefront), at 97 Chamber Street, New York City, in May of 1889. It's a 134 year old antique Parker “O” Grade, “T” quality, #1 frame, with hammers, 30” PT (Plain Twist) barrels with RH cylinder, LH modified chokes, at a 45oz. barrel wt., has a fishtail top lever, extractors, a single brass front sight, 2-5/8”chambers and a splintered forend. It was manufactured in 1887, Serial #52485, with all matching numbers. The walnut stock configuration is a capped pistol grip and the LOP is 14 1/4” to the dog's head butt-plate, drop at heel 3", and total weight 8lbs., 2oz. Locks up nice and crisp on its face. The top of the barrel has a matted concave rib marked "PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN CONN. TWIST" The Parker Brothers claim that, “The grade '0' was the mainstay of Parker production and the fit and finish was excellent”, is obvious in this shotgun after 134 years. Its quality & craftsmanship shine through. The gun has been cosmetically refreshed while maintaining its originality and though it has some normal and expected wear for its age & service [there are some small impressions on the bottom of the receiver in front of the trigger guard] the modest receiver etching is clear & good and this model has etched hammer screws. The walnut stock and forend have no cracks, dents or chips, all the checkering has been professionally refreshed. The stock had a small chip in front of and below the left hammer where it faces the receiver and has been professionally repaired. All mechanical parts have been inspected, cleaned, oiled, and are in very good working condition. As mentioned, it locks up tight on its face and is firm. Take it bird hunting or trap shooting with ease or hang it in a display case. The bores have some light orange peel but retain an impressive L~.038” and R ~.042” minimum wall thickness throughout. The barrels have been professionally inspected, evaluated, refreshed and approved for firing by Damascus/Twist barrel specialist Breck Gorman. I have the documentation to reflect this. Originally the chokes were RH cylinder, LH modified and have since been modified to IC Left: .753” with .008”, and IC Right: .752” with .005” constrictions. NOTE: The limitations of my camera and the room lighting make the photos of the wood stock & forend look much lighter than they accually are. The left profile shots are more accurate but even they are on the light side. You can see by the photos that it's a very nice looking elderly gentleman Parker and in very good condition. Before it came to me it was stored away in a gun case for countless decades by my father and comes with the PGCA Research Letter from the Parker Brothers Archives. It's a piece of history, a functioning original, and an affordable collectible that's priced to sell. It's my understanding that as an antique firearm, an FFL Dealer is not needed and delivery is to your door. But please check with your State's Laws to confirm this. Buyer pays actual UPS shipping & insurance costs and all sales taxes. I am fine with a 3-day non-shooting inspection with Buyer paying shipping & insurance if returned. No sales to CA or HI or outside the USA. Please don't hesitate to contact me on with any questions or for additional photos.
