Description:
Offered here is a fine Parker Bros. VH Grade 12 Gauge Side-by-Side, manufactured in Meriden, Connecticut around 1915. The VH (Vulcan Grade) was Parker’s most popular working-grade shotgun, valued for its durability, balance, and shootability while still featuring the quality fit and finish that made Parker “Old Reliable.”
This example is built on the 1 1/2 frame, weighing in at 7 lbs. 9 oz. — a classic and desirable configuration for 12 gauge. It wears 30″ Vulcan Steel barrels choked Full/Extra Full, making it a capable option for trap, turkey, or waterfowl.
The stock and splinter fore-end retain attractive walnut grain with original hand-cut checkering. The Parker Bros. butt plate remains intact. Case colors have faded with time, but engraving and markings remain sharp. The bores are clean and bright, the action locks up tight, and the mechanical function is solid.
The watertable and barrel flats are properly stamped with serial number 172XXX, Grade “V,” Parker Bros. patent dates, and barrel steel proof marks.
 
Condition Highlights

• Barrels: Retain good blue with honest wear; rib inscription sharp and legible.
• Action: Mechanically sound, with correct function of safeties and triggers; locks up tight.
• Wood: Original walnut shows handling marks consistent with age; solid with no cracks or repairs; checkering remains visible.

• This Parker retains its original 2 5/8″ chambers. For safety, we recommend appropriate low-pressure or RST-style ammunition.
