Parker Brothers 20 Gauge DHE Grade Shotgun with Extra Barrel Set

Manufactured in 1921, this Parker is one of only 469 produced in this exact configuration, as documented on page 291 of The Parker Story by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote. The grade, gauge, barrel length, and ejectors for the primary set are confirmed on page 491 of Parker Gun Identification & Serialization by Price and Fjestad; the extra barrel set is not listed.

Built with blued steel barrels featuring a single bead sight on the matted flat solid rib marked “PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN. CT. U.S.A. TITANIC STEEL,” light breech engraving, and 2 5/8-inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are paired to a size “0” casehardened boxlock action showcasing standard DH Grade engraving—floral scrollwork framing three game scenes: a setter in a field on the right, four pheasant cocks on the underside, and a pointer in a field on the left. Features include double triggers and a tang-mounted automatic safety.

The stock set consists of an attractively figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and a pistol grip stock with carved flats, factory hard rubber grip cap, blank silver inscription oval, and engraved skeleton buttplate over a checkered butt. Included is a second matching-numbered 20-gauge barrel set measuring 28 inches with 2 5/8-inch chambers and its own splinter forend.

Barrel measurements for the 28-inch set (R/L): Bore diameter nine inches from the breech .625″/.623″; choke constriction .025″/.030″; minimum wall thickness .021″/.020″.

Barrel and stock measurements for the 26-inch set (R/L): Bore diameter nine inches from the breech .620″/.621″; choke constriction .013″/.023″; minimum wall thickness .027″/.022″; drop at comb 1 1/2″; drop at heel 2 1/2″; length of pull 14 5/16″; slight cast-on; weight 6 lbs. 3 oz.


Condition

Very fine overall as professionally refurbished, retaining 98% blue finish, 70% casehardened finish with some muting and fading, some minor oxidation at the breech, recut engraving, some light dings and scratches, and sharp checkering on the wood. 28 inch barrel forend remains original with a small chip on the left side. Mechanically excellent.
