Parker CHE 20 Gauge - 1 OF 24 WITH FACTORY ENGLISH STOCK, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Parker, Year 1905, 20 Gauge, 6lb, Chokes SK/LM, LOP 15", DAH 2 1/2", DAC 1 9/16" Serial Number: 130487 The Parker is most recognized, most desired of all the major makers from the heyday of the American side by side. Parker made about 250,000 guns, the vast majority were 12ga. guns in lower grades. American gunners today realize the fine shooting qualities these guns possess as they were all hand assembled and tuned by the best gunmakers in the country. Of course, they made far fewer Parkers in 20ga. and fewer yet in the higher grades that were beautifully adorned with figured European walnut and finely executed engraving entirely done the old school way…by hand! This fine Parker CHE (Grade 4) 20ga., sn130487 made in 1905, is a very rare, collectible Parker that is a superb shooting tool ready for another 118 years in the field with proper care. “RARE” is overused in the vintage gun world but this gun surely qualifies. They only made 184 total hammerless CHE’s in 20ga., 164 with fluid steel barrels, and only 24 had the highly desirable English Grip buttstock. The action is beautifully engraved with Grade 4 CHE game scenes and scroll, the bone and charcoal case color rates 99% and was redone by Turnbull Restorations in 2010, the screws are perfect, and the wood-to-metal fit is superb. The mechanics are excellent, with the barrels tight on face and the top lever well right of center, the ribs are tight, the bores are bright and shiny with no pits, the ejectors are strong and timed, the auto safety works as it should, and the triggers are crisp. This gun comes with a Parker Gun Collectors Association letter documenting the gun and its details. It left the factory with 26” Titanic Steel barrels mated to a “0” frame action, and a straight stock with a 14 ¼” LOP. Since that time this fine Parker has been returned to the Remington/Parker factory for repairs in 1941, as witnessed by the date and repair stamp on the barrel flats shown in the photos. The straight grip buttstock now measures 15” LOP, and my expert analysis is that the stock was installed by the factory in 1941 when it was returned for repairs. Everything is perfectly detailed to factory specs, including the mullered border, shape of the stock, and factory engraved skeleton butt plate. Parkers are considered investment quality guns that literally go up in value as you enjoy their use. When you combine the rarity factor with highly desirable features this gun is a strong investment quality firearm for you to enjoy. It is a beautiful gun with great shooting dimensions and priced right. The Blue Book of Gun Values places this gun at over $25,000 in this condition with the 26” barrels, English stock, and skeleton butt plate. Thanks for looking, and don’t let this one get away!
